No job is too big or too small...

Ergonomics Services:

Good ergonomics is good economics.

Ergonomics is the science of fitting jobs to the people that perform them. Just as clothing can be custom tailored to a person?s body, a workstation can be tailored to a given employee based on the frequency, duration, and physical demands of their job tasks as well as their physical attributes. Research has shown that ergonomically designed workstations reduce injuries and maximize efficiency? That means higher production with less effort. A relatively small investment in ergonomics services saves money and makes money.

The best time to implement an ergonomics program is early, before the symptoms of bad posture and repetitive stress start to show. It is never too late to make an ergonomically friendly change. If you act too late, however, time and money may already be lost due to injury and inefficiency.

My job is a pain in the neck!

Ergonomic setup of an office workstation, such as a computer desk, dramatically reduces conditions such as headaches, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and more. Similar practices in an industrial setting promote safe lifting procedures and proper tool selection.

Ergonomic principles can be carried outside the workplace as well. Vehicles, sporting equipment, hobbies, and home workstations all have the opportunity to be ergonomically friendly.

So, what do I do now?

Sounds a little overwhelming doesn't it? Our trained ergonomics consultants will answer all of your questions and provide professional ergonomics services including analysis, design, furniture acquisition, and workstation setup.

Physical demands analyses:

What do I do when I go to work?

Despite the effectiveness of ergonomics in reducing the physical stress of many jobs, certain occupations remain very physically demanding. A physical demands analysis (PDA) defines an occupation by in terms of the manual work involved. Details like the height, weight, and frequency of use of the objects used in a job are recorded. PDAs are important in maintaining accurate job descriptions and in developing return to work programs.

What is a Kinesiologist?

Our staff of trained kinesiologists are specialists in human movement and physical work. We provide very specific PDA reports using skilled observation and precision equipment. Our knowledge in the fields of ergonomics and injury rehabilitation enables us to make comprehensive recommendations about a worksite, job tasks, or return to work programs.

Return To Work Programs:

OK, back to work:

Upon returning to a physically demanding job from any injury, especially one that was work related, it is helpful to provide a safeguard in preventing re-injury. Return to work programs can include education on proper working postures and techniques to minimize physical stress or exercise training to increase strength, flexibility, and endurance to help decrease injury risk.

Fit for the job?

Ergonomics is the best way to make your job fit for you. Work conditioning or work hardening are ways to make you fit for your job. Customized work hardening and work conditioning programs are designed to promote strength and fitness in the areas that a returning worker needs them the most. Any injury (work injury, car accident, sporting injury) that results in substantial time lost can result in loss of strength, coordination, and muscular endurance. We design occupation-specific programs so that the transition back to work is as easy and as safe as possible.

After the whistle blows:

Exercise therapy programs do not only refer to the work you do while on the job. There are plenty of physically strenuous tasks at home. Let us help minimize injury risks at work, at play and at home.
