Can-Fit-Pro (Personal Trainer Certification):
The Personal Trainer Specialist Course (PTS):
This is a comprehensive 25-hour course that will increase your knowledge and confidence to train clients 1-on-1 or in a small group (2-3 people) setting. A Can-Fit-Pro certified PTS is qualified to evaluate, prescribe and monitor individual training programs in a health club and or home / workplace setting. You will learn the skills needed to train a client with no special health concerns. Topics include: fitness theory, components of a workout, cardiovascular and resistance training, nutritional counselling and weight management. Price includes manual and study guide. ~$154.00 exam fee not included, nor is the Can-Fit-Pro membership fee of $69.99.

Below are the Winter dates for the PTS course in Kingston. Please note these courses are organized as part of the ISS (Instructional Sports Skills) program at Queen's University.
Registration is done through Queen's for this course, NOT Can-Fit-Pro.

Cost: $290.00 (includes manual, study guide and gst) - Registration for this course is done through Queen's University's Instructional Sports Skills Program. DO NOT REGISTER THROUGH Can-Fit-Pro for the course.

Program Registration Policy:
Persons may register for themselves or other members of their family, provided they have the appropriate fees and information. Prices in this brochure include all applicable taxes.

Removal Procedures:
University reserves the right to remove or refuse participants. This shall be governed by internal University Procedures and Policies. These procedures do not constitute a screening process of participants.
Directions to the Physical Education Centre:
Located on the north side of Union Street, between Division Street and University Avenue. Union Street is accessible from both Sir John A MacDonald Boulevard to the west and Division Street to the east. Both intersect Highway 401.
Upon entering the Physical Education Centre, turn right at the first corridor. The Athletics Administration Registration Wickets are immediately on the right. Office Hours are Monday thru Friday from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Parking is available at curbside (meters) or in the Stuart Street Visitors Lot (Stuart Street is at the south end of University Avenue).
Registration for the exam is done through CFP.

Candidates may pay for membership, and exam fees by MasterCard or Visa.
Registration Requirements:
Membership: Membership with Can-Fit-Pro is required before your exam results are released. Your membership must be kept current in order for your certification to remain in effect. CPR: Please provide a photocopy of your current CPR certification at the time of registration for the exam. A valid CPR is required before exam results can be released.
Cancellation Policy:
The course and exam cancellation policies are clearly outlined on the back page of each program registration form. Be sure to read the policies carefully.
Confirmation of your registration:
Once your registration has been received, a confirmation of your course and/or exam dates, times, resources and locations will be sent.
Materials:
Payment for course materials (manual, study guide) must be received before your materials are shipped to you. If you register less than two weeks before the course date, your materials will be available for pick-up on the first day of the course.

The Personal Trainer Specialist Exam:
Those who choose the option to progress and become a certified Personal Trainer Specialist will complete a theory and a practical exam. These two components assess the candidate's knowledge, counselling skills, and practical application of fitness theory to train clients. The theory exam consists of 75 multiple choice questions, plus a written client case study.
The practical exam is an actual workout with a client that is evaluated by your PRO Trainer. The client's information will be given out at the written exam.
