This Tuesday, we at Kingston This Week will launch our highly-anticipated Kingston Body Management Amateur Athlete of the Week feature. So if you know an athlete, aged 19 and under, whos had some amazing accomplishments over the past week please send in your nomination now. The deadline for the first submission will be 10 a.m., Monday, Feb. 5. To submit an athlete all you have to do is list the athletes name, age and team and write a few sentences about recent accomplishments. You must also provide a photo and phone number of the nominator.
You can send a nomination by e-mail to spetrick@kingstonthisweek.com, by fax to 613-389-7507 or in person to our office at 607 Gardiners Rd., Kingston. If e-mailing a photo, please send in JPEG format and in as high a resolution as possible.
The winning athlete each week will receive a $25 gift certificate from Kingston Body Management. Kingston Body Management is a fitness centre which offers personal training, physiotherapy and massage therapy, among a range of health services. It also sells personal training equipment. The business just opened a new gym at its newly renovated 6,000-square-foot health centre in the upstairs of the Atrium Mall at 541 Days Road. Its open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.
Owner Shane Lakins jumped on the opportunity to sponsor the feature. This gives us a chance to give back to our community, which is by working with young athletes, he said.
Weekly winners in the contest will also have a chance to win an even greater prize in an Athlete of the Month contest, which will be decided by readers in an online poll at www.kingstonthisweek.com .
